Coffee is one of the most popular beverages in the world, and for good reason. It’s a quick pick-me-up that helps us power through our day. However, too much of a good thing can be harmful to our health. Fortunately, there’s a delicious and nutritious alternative that can provide all the benefits of coffee without the negative side effects – mushroom coffee! Let’s explore what mushroom coffee is, its health benefits, and how to make it.
Firstly, what is mushroom coffee?
It’s not coffee with mushrooms sprinkled on top! The mushrooms used in this “coffee” are known for their health benefits such as boosting immunity, reducing inflammation and stress levels, improving cognitive function and promoting overall wellbeing.
One of the main reasons people prefer mushroom coffee over regular coffee is because it provides long-lasting energy without caffeine jitters or crashes. This is due to the adaptogenic properties of medicinal mushrooms which help regulate our body’s response to stress. Unlike caffeine, which stimulates our adrenal glands causing a temporary increase in energy followed by an inevitable crash later on…
Mushroom coffee has also been shown to improve brain function by increasing nerve growth factor (NGF) levels in the brain which promotes neuroplasticity (the ability for your brain to form new neural connections). This is thanks in large part to lion’s mane extract which has been shown in studies to improve memory recall and concentration.
In terms of taste, mushroom coffee has a slightly earthy and nutty flavor which pairs well with cream or milk. I will tell you from experience, however, that not all mushroom coffees are the same — there were some that I found to be absolutely disgusting. This one, however, happens to by my favorite by a landslide.
It’s easy to make!
Simply brew your regular coffee and add the mushroom coffee powder according to the label instructions. You can even add your coffee syrup flavor of choice – I am currently on a butterscotch kick! You can see how I make mine in this video.
Overall, mushroom coffee is an excellent alternative to regular coffee that provides numerous health benefits without compromising on taste. It’s perfect for those looking for a healthier and more sustainable way to stay energized throughout the day. So why not give it a try? Who knows, you might just find your new favorite morning beverage!
